Top Teams: Los Angeles Angels

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have been enjoying their best season in years. Although most of the buzz in baseball news has been focused on the Tampa Bay Rays, the Angels happen to have the best record in baseball right now with 62-39. They've had consistent performance both at home and on the road, with 31 victories in each column. The Angels just swept the Boston Red Sox, but it seems like they're the Rodney Dangerfield of the Major League - they can't get no respect, no matter how well they do on the field.

It might be because they haven't been struck by any scandals. None of their players are dating any aging pop queens. They just focus on winning, and are coming out on top. Although the New York Mets are hogging attention for clawing their way up the rankings of the NL East, the Angels are just plain dominating the AL West. The Red Sox have been all but crowned the AL champions, but if the record is anything to go by, the Angels are the team to really watch this season.

They'll face the Red Sox again in a two game series on July 28th. Immediately after that, they'll go up against the Yankees in another four game series. If they top those two teams, the press will likely take notice of the Angels and crown them the potential AL champions. That would likely be a cause for some serious soul searching up in the Northeast as those two teams get taken down a peg or three.
