Story By - Mary Clausen
These stories all happened in our favorite game on March 24. I'm a happy camper. How 'bout you. I can hear the birds chirping and that means baseball is almost here.
Japan is the WBC Champions - The game took place in Dodger Stadium on Monday. This was a nail-biter all the way, as I heard. Our Baseball Commissioner, Bud Sellig enjoyed the excitement of the game, "There was as much intensity as there has been in a baseball game in a long time" They say there were as many twists and turns as a Japanese wrestling hold. Japan supposedly had to almost win the game twice.
Miami-Dane Agreed to Pay Part of Marlins Stadium - This was a decade-long financial and political frustration that the Marlins can put behind them. Welcome the new Miami Marlins!
Hamilton offer Likely Coming - The All-Star outfielder Josh Hamilton will likely get an idea in the next few days of the Rangers intention to whether they will sign him to a long-term contract extension. Hamilton said, "I just heard they will supposedly get something together. They wouldn't say they would and they wouldn't say they wouldn't." Word is that the Ranger are expected to make a proposal to Hamilton's agent in the next few days.
J.D. Drew Hurt Again - March 25. J.D. was hit by a pitch Friday. The bad thing is that it's all different colors of bruises, etc. The good thing is it doesn't need to be bandaged. Drew is back in the Red Sox lineup today against the Cincinatti Reds. He feels like he's ready coz he's been fitting off a tee and has had live batting practice too. J.D. thinks that if he gets some good at-bats during the rest of spring training he'll be ready for the season that will be here very soon. Good luck J.D. - he's a former Cardinal and we're used to his frequent ouchies.
