Hello - Here I am talkin' some baseball with you again. We have seen some pitchers with ugly ERAs today. One guy the Cardinals actually traded a decent outfielder for (we'll try to think good thoughts - the player's history tells us that he had a decent year during the first half of last year, his ERA was 3.43). They always hope that when pitchers work with our pitching coach Dave Duncan that he will bring out the best in them. Sometimes he does. We'll see.
The Yankees even have a pitcher with a high ERA (they're having some bad luck this year after all that money they spent). He's been in what he calls "a funk" for the first three games. I think he even pitched in that clobberfest 24-3 against the Indians Saturday. They plan to change mechanics, etc. and think he can do better. Who knows what will happen with either pitcher. Time will answer that question
Here is some more news in baseball:

PITTSBURG PIRATES - Catcher Ryan Doumit was injured at one of his at-bats in the game Sunday against the Atlanta Braves. He has been seen by the team's hand specialist and had x-rays and a MRI today. These did not show the doctor evidence of what was causing his pain so he will have a CT scan on Wednesday. They are hoping it will show more - maybe there are ligaments or a fracture that might be causing his problem.
Doumit was taken out of the game in the fourth inning and replaced by their back-up catcher. The Pirates lost the game 11-1.
Phillies Have Championship Hangover?

PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES - The Phillies have a record this season of 5-6. Their manager Charlie Maniel thinks they might be recovering from what he calls a "Championship Hangover." The win is everywhere and on everyone's mind. There are photos all over their dugout and locker room with them celebrating their championship win.
Manuel says he has some players that need to look back and remember how they got there last year. He says, "Some of the players are getting away from the fact that the game is the first priority and winning the game is the first priority." He would not name any names of this behavior in the game.
