WE HAD NO FUN LAST NIGHT

Hi fans.  It was not a pretty sight at our game Wednesday night. Actually, it was downright ugly. 11-0 ugly. What went wrong?  Everything.  What went right  Nothing.  We had trouble pitching, hitting and fielding too.  You know how it is.  "When it rains, it pours" and it did all of that.

Thompson had trouble from the beginning.  He allowed five runs and was taken out of the game in the sixth inning.  When the bullpen took over it didn't get any better.  We changed pitchers bunches of times and they scored bunches of runs.  You saw the final score.

We couldn't hit (everyone was an 0-fer)  and we had two errors. We would get men on base and that's where they stayed. - on base.  You don't score runs like that. You saw the final score.

You know that I always support my Cardinals but last night was not supportable. It was an embarrassing loss.  We went down in the standings and we're only one game ahead of the Brewers now.

Well, at least we have this afternoon's game to look forward to.  St. Louis ace Chris Carpenter is pitching against Mets ace Johan Santana.  It should be a great game - win or lose. It's a day game too! I have a good feeling about this game.  I guess we're going for the series split with  the PS Mets.

Hey I won't be writing for a bit.  I'm going to Chicago.  Don't worry, I'm not going to become a Cub fan, I'm just visiting some.  They're Cub fans, but they're fun. I won't get to watch my Cardinals all weekend.  Probably Cubs and Sox. I'll deal with it. It's still baseball. I guess.

Here is some baseball news that's going on right now -

LOS ANGELES ANGELS - 6/24/09 - KELVIM ESCOBAR
Kelvim Escobar suffered another shoulder setback playing catch on Monday.  From the way he feels he's "not optimistic" he will even be able to pitch this year.  This all has to do with his surgically-repaired right shoulder - it has been bothering him off and on since 2008. In 2005 he was able to bounce back fine and the team is hoping for this again, but he's not feeling optimistic about everything this time.

WASHINGTON NATIONALS - 6/23/09 - STEPHEN STRASBURG
Stephen Strasurg signed in the 2009 draft market with the Washington Nationals. They were excited about it and everything looked good at first, then he signed powerful Scott Boras on as his agent.  Everything is not as easy now.  Boras is bringing up many things for Strasburg to ask the Nationals - things he would not have considered on his own. Of course, everything is becoming more difficult. We'll see what happens when this is all finalized later.

PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES - 6/25/009 - BRAD LIDGE
BradLidge is going off the DL and will be available at tonight's game.  He has been out since June 9 with inflammation in his right knee.  So far his numbers as good as he's used to.  He is 0-3 with a 7.27 ERA and six blown saves.
