Talkin' Baseball about Chris Carpenter. Tonight he will pitch against one of the best pitchers ever - Randy Johnson "The Big Unit" with the San Francisco Giants. Carpenter has been up against some fantastic pitchers in the last month or so. They aren't those "run of the mill-type pitchers" either. They are all top-notch - just like him. This will be another great baseball game to watch.
Chris Carpenter has an ERA of 1.78 right now and Randy Johnson is at a 4.68 ERA. He's a lefty too you know, and left-handed pitchers can create a challenge for our hitters. Just like with Johan Santana, win or lose, it will be a great game to watch.
Here is a blog that I wrote after the game Carpenter pitched against Johan Santana, It was quite a game and since Chris is pitching tonight, I thought it would be appropriate to publish it on my website today
.

Let's Talkin' Baseball about Chris Carpenter again. What do you think happened to him in the game on Thursday, June 25. Yes we're all aware that he was beat by Johan Santana, but what happened. Many times pitchers say that there was one pitch that was trouble for them in the game. This happened to Carpenter Thursday, Six of his seven innings were brilliant. He struck out Mets throwing strike after strike. He looked great.
It was in his three-run fourth that he had trouble. His fastball to Nick Evans just didn't sit right and Evans was able to get a two-run good-looking double that eventually gave New York the lead in the game that beat us. Carpenter said after the game, "It came to that one pitch to Evans. I threw a cutter to him that stayed flat instead of getting some tilt on it and he hit it down the line."
It goes to show that all players have one of those games. Carpenter would love to have that pitch back so he could try it again.

SANTANA IS RIGHT
UP THERE IN TOUGHNESS TOO
