BASEBALL WEBSITE BY - MARY CLAUSEN - ST. LOUIS ROCKS!

HERE WE GO - CELEBRATE!
Albert Pujols sure is an unbelievable baseball player. Cardinal fans are lucky to be watching a player of his caliber. By the way, it's not too bad to have him playing for our team either. Once again, he helped my Cardinals to another victory. They beat the Cincinnati Reds in the first of this three-game series Friday night 7-4.
The Reds starting pitcher, Homer Bailey, pitched a great game and kept our offense quiet until the eighth inning (he retired 13 consecutive batters). In the eighth, the Cardinals loaded the bases for their favorite slugger, Albert Pujols. Albert smacked a grand slam to make his third grand slam of the season. He said, "I was looking for a pitch to hit in the strike zone and just trying to stay away from the double play. Obviously I got good wood and it went out of the park." Good call AP!
Piniero pitched a good game, Mott came in to get the win and Franklin to get the save. Fireworks on the third of July for my Cardinals Way to go guys!
Friday night's win put us one game ahead of the Milwaukee Brewers in the standings. We play the Reds for two more games this holiday weekend. Good job guys. Let's see some more fireworks Cardinals!
SAN DIEGO PADRES - 7/2/09
Do you remember in the 1990s/2000s how some of the the Houston Astros batters were called the Killer Bees (Biggio, Bagwell, etc.)? No, the Killer Bees weren't at the game Thursday night, these bees were real. The Houston Astros (really) and the San Diego Padres were playing at PNC Park and there was a swarm of bumble bees in left field. They were everywhere. It was the ninth inning and the game even had to be delayed 52 minutes so they could get rid of them. A swarm of bees - doesn't that thought give you the willies?
LOS ANGELES DODGERS - 7/3/09 - MANNY RAMIREZ
Manny Ramirez was allowed to play baseball on Friday after his 50-game suspension for steroid use. Manny made his gregarious presence known even before he was on the baseball field. He posed at the Dodgers dugout for photographers and yelled, "It's showtime!" When he came to bat, the crowd came to their feet. Most of the them cheered , but there were boos too. He was 0-3 in the game with one walk. It looks like it will take a little bit to get his timing going, but his fun-loving personality is already primed.

HE'S BACK!
