DEROSA WAS SMILING LAST
NIGHT WITH TWO HOMERS

July 22 - We lost the games Tuesday night 11-6. That makes two in a row to Houston. The Astros have always been tough to play - they're very good. Last night's game caused us to lose the series. We haven't done that since June.
Todd Wellemeyer was shaky. He had 78 pitches 78 and 58 were strikes. In the fifth inning the Astros were able to get five runs on seven hits. Wellemeyer wasn't what you call consistent. He'd have a great pitch, followed by two or three not so good. You can't win the game like that. Especially with a good lefty on the mound against us.
The Astros' lefty, Rodriguez, did a fine job. We rallied when he went out of the game, but it was not enough.
Mark DeRosa rallied - he had a great game. After he got is first two hits Monday, he followed it by going deep twice Tuesday. It was great to see him loosen up and get comfortable again.
Our Cardinals are still in first place in the Central division. Two games back, the Cubs and Brewers are tied for second. Wednesday we play the Astros in the final game of the series. We have Chris Carpenter (8-3) for us and Roy Oswalt (6-4) will pitch for the Astros. It should be a great, low-scoring game. Good luck Cards.
TORONTO BLUE JAYS - 7/21/09 - ROY HALLADAY
METS - Jays wanted outfield prospect, Fernando Martinez, young pitchers Bobby Parnell & Jon Niese and shortstop prospect Ruben Tejada. Mets said no way.
PHILLIES - Jays wanted top pitching prospect Kyle Drabek in a four-player package. They said no thank you, but they're still interested in him.
EVERYBODY WANTS HIM, BUT
DON'T WANT TO PAY HIS PRICE
