HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBBIE!

Happy Birthday Robbie!  Robbie is my 19-year-old son and he's my sweetie (most of the time - you know how that goes if you have a teenager). Anyway, we have a great time following Cardinal baseball together.  I hope they get a win for you today Buddy!

Now to baseball!

7//28/09 - Home cookin' is so good!  Our Cardinals beat the Dodgers for the second game in a row - a Busch Stadium.  The final score was 10-0.  Yea!

It started out kind of a slow. There was a rain delay of one and one-half hours and then there was really no action till the sixth inning. Chad Billingsley. the Dodger righty, went into the bottom of the sixth inning with a one-hitter going. Then in that inning, he loaded the bases intentionally walking Matt Holliday.  Ryan Ludwick was next and he hit one up the middle and the score became 2-0. Tony LaRussa said, "That was the biggest hit of the game.  It was huge."  The hits kept coming that inning and we scored six runs that inning. Wow!

Adam Wainwright was great.  He pitched eight scoreless innings and now has a record of 12-6 with an ERA 2.80.  Wow again! Wainwright got into several jams Tuesday and was able to pitch out of all of them.  Tony LaRussa said about his night,"There were a lot of situations where if he doesn't make a great pitch, they could have busted it open.  To his credit he got a lot of good pitches in key situations."

There were some great defensive plays too.  Brendan Ryan made two must-see plays in the game that are the kind you see on Sportscenter Top Ten Plays.  Seriously.

Cardinals are back in first place by 1/2 game. Yea! Houston beat Chicago last night 11-6. Way to go Astros (I can't believe I just said that!).
We play the Dodgers again tonight at 7:10 p.m.  Joel Pineiro (9-9, ERA 2.95) will pitch against lefty Clayton Kershaw (8-5, ERA 2.96).  You know what - lefty's pitching against us don't scare me like they used to. Cool! Go for it guys!

OH MY! WHAT WILL THE  BLUE JAYS DO?

TORONTO BLUE JAYS - 7/27/09 - ROY HALLADAY
The deal to get Roy Halladay to Philadelphia might be closer than are the Jays are leading on to.  Evidently, they are really needing prospects in their club, so Phillie's prospects might  be what the Dr. ordered (no pun intended). There's more - rumor says that Riciari might also be looking for a place for other big-name Jays, i.e., Rolen, Sutaro & Downs.  Who knows.  You know I'll keep you posted on the news.

BUD SELLIG - 7/28/09 - PETE ROSE
Bud Selig claims that nothing has changed regarding his feeling toward the Pete Rose issue and his admission to the Hall of Fame.  Many baseball veterans have suggested recently to Selig that leniency might be in order, but Selig appears unmoved.

SORRY PETE,
BUS STILL SAYS NO
