ROCKIES WALK-OFF
GRAND SLAM WON THE GAME

Our Cardinals were idle last night, so I thought it would be fun to cover another
exciting game in baseball. Those Denver Rockies are playing some great baseball and that continued last night.
To get the win, Ryan Spilbouroughs of the Denver Rockies hit his first grand slam in Rockies history Monday night - a walk-off one. It helped the Rockies just get past the Giants in the 14th inning with a final score of 6-4. Earlier in the fourth inning he struck out with runners on the corner and then in the tenth he hit into a double play with two men on. He wasn't happy then.
To get them to extra innings they were lucky. Helton had a bases loaded walk (his third walk of the game) in the fifth to tie the game.
This win puts the Rockies four games ahead of the Giants in the National League Wild Card Race. The win also puts them in a good place in the race for the National League West race with the Los Angeles Dodgers moving out of first place recently. The Dodger were idle Monday, so it sits the Rockies only three games below them. The Rockies will begin a three-game series with the Dodgers in Denver Tuesday.
Chris Carpenter & the Cy Young Award. Have you all been wondering about Chris Carpenter and the 2009 Cy Young Award?
Matthew Leach gave his thoughts about this Monday. He thinks Carpenter is doing great but thinks Tim Lincecum is the favorite right now to win another Cy Young. Lincecum having a fantastic year.
He thinks the only thing holding Carp back from winning is the number of
innings he has thrown. Lincecum has thrown 40 more innings. Leach does think that he might get some votes due to the great come back that Carpenter has had after his surgery. Carp is #1 in ERAs too. Lincecum still leads in Ks . I'll keep an eye on this for you.
